His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama once taught that "We are visitors on this planet. We are here for ninety or one hundred years at the very most. During that period, we must try to do something good, something useful, with our lives. If you contribute to other people's happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life."
Although mankind are so lucky to born in this wonderful planet, not many people who can afford the comfortable and fortunate lives. In this world, it is clearly that the number of people who are currently suffering with poverty, hardships, sickness, disabilities as well as facing with many natural disasters is countless. Today we are very blessed and happily live in a fully equipped and comfortable places and the most precious is to have a chance to learn Dharma. All these nice good conditions make us, founders of KNT Foundation suddenly think and feel mercy for the poor people who are unfortunately living in a lack of matter as well as spirit all around the world. Therefore, since more than ten years ago, we have outlined for ourselves a goal - Let's help others less suffering and everyone starts sharing love to each other. The picture of the old mother with a languishing, emaciated body and black burnt austere face having a happy smile on her lips and full of joy in her eyes which dimmed by the arduous years of life while quivering her hands to receive the gift of love has created infinite emotions in our hearts and forever engraved boundless in our memories and that is the most motivation for us to overcome all difficult obstacles. "One piece of food while hungry equals a big package of food while full." What a meaningful! The eyes, the smile, the radiant joy of the poor in our every charity trip has urged us and not allow us to stop anywhere because in this world there are many people in poverty, misery, disease, who are desperately in need. We have been quietly working on these charitable works over the past 10 years alone before establishing the non-profit foundation. The more we do, the more we see, the more we understand, and the more compassionate we have. Indeed, life is so much suffering, misfortune, and disease. Unfortunately, with limited and small hands, we cannot afford to soothe and help all these hungry, disease, and unhappy people. At this moment, we thought of the Vietnamese folk songs "One tree alone cannot survive, three trees bunched up a high mountain." Thus, we finally have a wish to hope that our tiny arms will turn into thousands of philanthropic arms that will help to reduce the suffering of living beings and this world is filled with infinite love. We then suddenly think of generous supporters with compassionate heart and willing to share it all with everyone like you. That is why the charity was founded.
The name, KYUENKYAB NYAMSO TSOGPA, was given by a Tibetan High Lama in 2007 with the meaning that the establishment of the charitable foundation would provide universal relief and restoration to all sentient beings. In 2010, KYUENKYAB NYAMSO TSOGPA Foundation was established and had been operating under the short fictitious name as KNT Foundation for more convenience to our supporters. (KNT are abbreviated as Kyuenkyab Nyamso Tsogpa.)
KNT Foundation is a non-profit, charitable, organization dedicated to providing humanitarian aid to poor and needy people in the difficult economic countries as well as wishing to create comfortable living conditions and conducive learning environment for the Sangha to assists them with their progress on the Dharma path around the world. KNT foundation's other mission is to sponsor and/or provide logistics support for Buddhist Monks and Nuns visiting the Bay Areas and organize local events for Buddhist Monks and Nuns to introduce Buddhism into the Bay Areas’ community through a grass-rooted effort of volunteers.
KNT Foundation is a young non-profit foundation compared to many other charities, but we, KNT Foundation’s members and volunteers in the United States as well as in Vietnam, have been bundled together working on these charitable activities in many years before the establishment of the charitable foundation. We all carry in our heart a wish:
"May the world is no longer suffering,
Let pray for the world to be full of love,
The people are prosperous and happy,
Peace to every home around the world."
Finally, on behalf of all the poor and disadvantaged people everywhere, KNT Foundation would like to express our sincerely grateful to all the donors who have mercy to remember the piece of poverty, misfortune to open your warm arms for relief. Again, KNT Foundation would like to thank all of you and please together with us continue opening our arms cordially to all needy people everywhere in the world.
"Give when you are alive,
Love each other while still in this world."
Please see below are some pictures of various projects that KNT Foundation has done so far. Without the great support from all donors like you, KNT Foundation cannot make it happens and the needy people won't have the chance to change their lives. Whether or not you have done all the good deeds for others, please rejoice while viewing these pictures and together we wish all sentient beings will soon liberate from the ocean of misery.
